I can’t even say “Mach-E” without thinking about sushi. We started making basic rolls at home and love it...but I totally get the cost now. So messy and labor intensive.

We tried our hand at making sushi a few weeks ago. I discovered I need to invest in some of those rolling mats. We also need to work on our sticky rice. It wasn’t quite right for making rolls.

Without a mat is just a chore  — thankfully they’re plentiful and cheap. Ours is plastic (came with a kids’ foodmaking set) and the bamboo ones are a huge improvement.

The rice is soooo sticky, but adding too much water to your hands can wreck the roll.

Also, an actual Mustang can sortof do a lot of that stuff in stock form....the Mach E can’t.

Please Ford, drop the Mustang name. Mach-E is a million times better. Don’t be GM (Chevy Blazer, Cadillac their EV standard ).

If you must have a name, use a name that will never be used again because the brand doesn't exist any longer, like Cougar and/or XR-7.

In order to have that kind of power output, it has to have some massive cells, so it can probably go for a while, but I bet it weighs 2.5 tons.

The fender flares don’t bother me much as they cover up the flat spot on the fenders, which I find to be one of the worst design elements on modern cars.

It’s long overdue, but I’ve mostly been trying to avoid OPPO for a while. I still visit the Oppositeblog regularly to catch the best stuff and follow a few people’s pages individually though.

I’ve been debating creating a Blogger or Wordpress site just to post photodumps.

I think OppoBlog is under- advertised , the only reason I ever found out about it was because you reposted some of my stuff there. It would be interesting to see the numbers of people who actually use it.

It’s not been much of a time issue but a content issue. I don’t like all the politics, theme days, and shitposting(I don’t consider food/pet/weather/job/venting posts to be shitposting though.) The thing that finally drove me out for a while was all the Covid posts. At the beginning every other post was about it, as if we weren’t all going through the same thing.

I kept doing random photodumps because they required very little work and it kept the post count up at night . I take 5-10k photos at car shows/events every year but rarely shared them because how much time it took to edit and how few views they got. It’s very frustrating to spend three hours editing pictures just to get 100 views and immediately be followed up by a shitpost that gets a 1000 views and 20 comments. I had a list of 50 or so stories on car design/history that I wanted to work on but it feels like wasted time and effort to post them to Oppo.

Also as someone who leans right, it’s pretty easy to feel unwelcome reading some of the posts/comments here.

I’ve been on Oppo as a lurker and poster under several names for about 13 years now. As the Jalopnik front page has gotten worse, so has Oppo. There used to be a number of aspiring auto writers who put a lot of time and energy into making front page quality material. Most of th at has been replaced with aspiring Youtubers who just post a video link. To be fair Oppo often has better material than the front page now, as the bar has been severely lowered the last few years.

I’ll keep checking in on Oppo proper if I have exhausted every other resource that keeps my attention. I still regularly follow you, Goggles, Chariot, Peter, Ash, Ttyymmnn, Pip, Sony, AIM, shop teacher, and gettingoldercarguy.

I share about it from time to time - maybe I should remind people it exists again. Maybe it will spur some better content (HHFP’s Emb iggening Days attempting this as well).

I can definitely see wanting OPPO as a place to get away from politics/covid, and then seeing so much of it here being very frustrating (sorry for contributing to that ).

I definitely agree about not wanting to take the time on something that will just get buried. I used to put real time in some of my posts, but hardly ever do anymore. I’d be super interested in your photos and your car design/history posts! Maybe you could get on with The Drive (or other) as a contributor.

That sucks that you started feeling unwelcome. I’m an independent at this point, fwiw. Used to be on the red team, but feel like they’ve lost course. Maybe I’ll vote for Jo Jorgenson, who knows?

The loss of the possibility of a share to the “front page” definitely made OPPO content take a hit (and the small payoff to hours of work as previously mentioned, but I think that’s always been an issue here).

I hope to keep seeing you around these parts.

I think it’s pretty obvious there was a fight at Ford.

Some guy came up with Mach-E and thought it was amazing while s ome other guy thought they needed to use a brand with name recognition instead. And they couldn't convince the other one, s o we end up with this.
